Carbon emissions per household resulting from the use of natural gas instead of coal

Tackling environmental challenges and creating cleaner, safer air to breathe are essential to leaving future generations a more liveable world.
Based on calculations assuming that households without access to natural gas would otherwise use carbon-intensive fuels, the choice of natural gas by our 8.3 million subscribers in 2025 contributed to 17.43 million tonnes of avoided carbon emissions. This significant contribution is equivalent to the amount of carbon that could be absorbed by a forest of 734 million trees, while the average reduction in carbon emissions achieved by a household using natural gas amounted to 2.1 tCO₂.
